The National Board of Review

Announces Newly-Formed
Relationship with PMK*BNC

New York, NY (October 26th, 2011) – The National Board of Review announced today their newly-formed partnership with PMK*BNC.  Annie Schulhof, NBR President, made the announcement that PMK*BNC will be the agency of record for their group, in addition to working with their team on their annual Awards Gala, Tuesday, January 10th, 2012 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

“We are thrilled to be working with PMK*BNC,” said Schulhof. “Not only are they one of the most respected entertainment communications and marketing firms in the business, but they also have an understanding of our organization’s goals.”

Founded in 1909 in New York City, just 13 years after the birth of cinema, the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures honors the distinctive voice of the individual artist, rewarding excellence and supporting freedom of expression in film.  The organization also works to foster commentary on all aspects of film production and underwrites film education programs and seminars for film students.

“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an organization as prestigious and seasoned as the National Board of Review,” said PMK*BNC Co-Chairman and Co-CEO Cindi Berger. “The NBR has a strong track record of selecting films, actors, directors and screenwriters that have later gone on to win Academy Awards.”

Over 250 films (studio, independent, foreign-language, animated, and documentary) are viewed throughout the year by a select group of knowledgeable film enthusiasts and professionals, academics, young filmmakers, and students.  As in previous years, this year’s winners will be announced on Thursday, December 1st, ensuring that voting members have the opportunity to see as many films as possible.

At the center of their core value is their belief in nurturing new and up-and-coming filmmakers.  The National Board of Review awards grants to promising film students as well as a community outreach to The Children's Aid Society, The Ghetto Film School, Reel Works Teen Filmmaking, and Educational Video Center. Earlier this year, the NBR awarded 27 student grants.
