| Natalie Morales to Host Annual
National Board of Review Awards Gala
New York, NY (November 17, 2011) – The National Board of Review announced today that NBC News' TODAY news anchor Natalie Morales has been tapped to host the annual National Board of Review Awards Gala, taking place on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.
“We are thrilled that Natalie will be hosting this year’s Gala,” said Annie Schulhof, NBR President. “She is a highly-regarded journalist whose immense experience has cemented her as a formidable presence in the media landscape, and I know she will bring a new level of excitement to our celebration.”
Morales, who was awarded two Daytime Emmys as part of TODAY's recognition as the best morning news program in 2010 and 2011, follows in the footsteps of previous Gala hosts including Meredith Vieira, Whoopi Goldberg and Paul Reiser.
“It’s a true honor to be asked to host an awards gala as prestigious and renowned as the National Board of Review’s,” said Morales. “I look forward to working with Annie and the organization in the coming months and putting together a fantastic evening in honor of the best films of the year.”
The National Board of Review awards grants to promising film students as well as a community outreach to The Children's Aid Society, The Ghetto Film School, Reel Works Teen Filmmaking, and Educational Video Center. Earlier this year, the NBR awarded 27 student grants. As in previous years, this year’s winners will be announced on Thursday, December 1st, ensuring that voting members have the opportunity to see as many films as possible.
