The NBR has won international acclaim for its many publications: Film Program (1917-1926), Exceptional Photoplays (1920-1925), Photoplay Guide to Better Movies (1924-1926), National Board of Review Magazine (1926-1948), and Films in Review (1950-1964). These publications have influenced generations of filmmakers and film lovers and fostered commentary on all aspects of cinema production and history. They include contributions from a number of notable film and theatre aficionados, such as Alfred Hitchcock, Fritz Lang, Tennessee Williams, William K. Everson, Alistair Cooke, and Pearl Buck. The publications' influence can still be felt by researchers, students, and film buffs, who often seek out copies of these magazines.
